The Rules:

The rules of this forum are pretty much just like the rules of pretty much any RP forum. I hope they don’t seem to harsh, ‘cause I hate harsh rules. If you see someone breaking any of these rules and we haven‘t noticed yet, then PM me or another Mod so that we can deal with it. After all, we can’t watch the entire forum at one time and we can miss things, so you need to help us.

1. No God-Modding. If this isn’t the first RP forum you’ve been on, then you’ll know that this is a standard rule that you must follow. For those of you who don’t know what God-Modding is, it is when you either take control of another persons character, or you create a character that is unimaginably powerful or invincible.

2. Posting. Although I won’t be as strict on this as some sites seem to be, but I do encourage you to make posts as long as you can in order to give your fellow RP’ers something to respond to. I’ve been in a situation where I can’t post more than two sentences without describing the colour of the walls or something like that, so I understand if you do have to post a few shorter posts. Traditionally, a one paragraph minimum is the standard so aim for that.

3. Grammar/Spellings. Again, I won’t be too strict on this (though I am a bit of a grammar nazi), however you will be asked to keep up your English skills. Please use Microsoft Word (or whatever) to check your spellings and please use at least full stops, capital letters, speech marks and commas in your post. And of course, we all make mistakes, I imagine I’ve made a fair few on this thread alone, so we won’t be evil about it.

4. Rights. Apparently, I have the right to do what ever the hell I like with this board. Now, I will reframe from letting such a glamorous power go to my head, and I do invite you to question me if I do something (say, ban someone) and you think it was unfair. I’ll always listen to the opinions of the members of this site.

5. In Character Posting. Please reframe from posting on the In Character (IC) boards till your character profile has been approved by a mod. I try to access this site as much as possible but I do have other aspects of my life that I have to attend, like school. But feel free to post on the Out of Character (OOC) boards as much as you like while you wait (though don’t go breaking rule 6). Also, don’t bring problems from OOC boards to the IC boards and vice versa.

6. Spamming. Please, don’t spam the site with pointless / repeat threads. It’s kind of annoying. I will, of course, appreciate the fact that you may have not seen a thread on a subject before posting your own, but do have a look for another thread like it before posting. This goes the same for PM’s. Do not send a member or multiple members the same thing over and over again. If a member requests that you no longer PM them at all, please respect their wishes.

7. Thread Bumping. Don’t go bumping up old threads please. This basically means posting in old threads and causing them to pop back up to the top. If a thread is more than a month old, consider it dead. At which point, in the OOC board, feel free to post your own thread on the same subject. (I assume that in the IC board, you wouldn’t need to post the exact same thing).

8. Absences. If you’re going to be absent from the site for more than two days, please notify me in a PM. If you are going to be absent from the site for more than a week, please post in the Absences board (so I don‘t get members asking about you). Also, if you’re going to be absent for more than a few days, please try to remove yourself from all threads any of your characters are currently in. I understand that you have social lives, but please don’t hold other members up. Members have the right to write you out of a thread if you don’t post in it for to long without reason.

9. Multi-threads. Of course, it’ll get very boring very fast if everyone has to stick to one thread, so I don’t mind people being in 2-4 threads at once, but don’t go posting on every single thread that you can, ‘cause as lovely as you all are, we don’t want to see you everywhere. Plus, it limits plot options for threads.

10. Profile Links. Please put links in your signatures to link other members to your profile. It’s a pain when someone see’s you post and they don’t have a clue who you are and have to go digging through loads of profiles in order to find out. For those of you who don’t know how to put links within other words (Like this), here is a step by step (hopefully easy to follow) guide. (You don’t have to do this fancy URL stuff, you can just put a link to your profile in there, but this makes things look neater)

1. Go to your profile and click ‘Modify Profile’ at the top.
2. Find the book marked ‘signature’.
3. Type the following code (without spaces or the star) in to the box: [ U R L = * ]
4. Where the star is on there paste or type the link to your profile in.
5. After the closing bracket, put anything you want as the text that people click to get to your profile. Most people go for their characters name, but you can use whatever you please.
6. After that, type in the following code (again, without spaces) into the box: [ / U R L ] (you don’t need to put a link in on this side)
7. Go to the bottom of the page and click the ‘Modify Profile’ button. Your link should appear quite nicely now. If it doesn’t, repeat these steps. If it still doesn’t work, tell me or another mod. (of course, if that doesn’t work, then I won’t have a clue what’s wrong, I have some computer genius friends who I can force to help me though)

11. No bullying. Simple enough. No one likes it so try to get along with your fellow members. If you have an issue with one member that can’t be resolved between you, contact a Mod and we will see what we can do to help you.

12. The Mods. If you feel that a particular Mod (including myself) is ‘abusing’ their power or bullying you. Please PM me or another mod about it and we will have a word with them.

13. Discrimination. Racism, sexism, homophobia, Islamiphobia and/or any other type of discrimination quite simply won’t be tolerated. I doubt this actually needs to be said, but I just wanted to make sure we all knew that. Anyone who breaks this rule will be banned without warning, no matter how long you‘ve been on the site.

14. Age stuff. The site as a whole is PG-13(ish). Of course, I can imagine that some people like things a li’l more mature (yes in that sense), so if you want to have one of those threads, then put ‘[M]’ at the beginning of the thread title, and only post them in the following boards: (They don’t have to be set in these places, it’s just for convenience)

(List coming once the site is complete. If I forget, give me a prod through a PM)

Any mature thread that isn’t posted in one of these with the ‘[M]’ WILL BE DELETED without question. (I know it would make more sense just to move them, but deleting things is fun)

15. Swearing. I’m going to be relaxed about this. But any really excessive swearing is a no-no. Also, any of the really horrid words (The N word and the C word), please try to avoid using. They are censored off, but still.

16. In the other countries board, to title your thread there put the name of the country you are in, and then the title. Please do this so that we know where you are.

17. NC-17 boards, are what they say they are NC-17 no one under the age of Seventeen will get this password. If you are above seventeen you and the person that you wish to post with in the board must request the password and no handing it out to anyone who isn't approved for the board.

That’s it for now. I have the right to add a rule and change any existing rule if and when I want. I will of course find a way of notifying everyone of rule changes.

As I said at the beginning, if you see a person breaking these rules, PM me or another mod and we will deal with it.

People will (almost) never be banned instantly. We will always warn people (in case they didn’t know or forgot a particular rule) before we take any more direct action. People breaking the big rules (E.G., spamming and God-Modding) will get one warning before being banned. People breaking smaller rules (E.G. In Character Posting) will be warned twice. Some rules won’t result in banning (Like Profile Links) because it is just petty, however you will be constantly prompted by myself and other mods through the use of PM’s.
